St. James Public School District is seeking an Activities Director.
Serves under the general supervision of the Superintendent and High School Principal to:
Coordinate the activities of coaches, fine arts directors, Activities administrative assistant, and activity workers.
Recommends the selection and replacement of activity coaches.
Reviews and evaluates the head coach/program.
Establishes workers for school events as necessary.
Reviews each program with a post season conference with the head coach.
Arranges for transportation requests dealing with athletic contests, clinics, workshops, scrimmages, and meetings.
Develops athletic budget for supplies and equipment. Orders all athletic supplies and equipment. Calls for bids when possible.
Schedules all activity contests and practice sessions. Manages tournaments for conference, subsection, and section events when assigned to St. James.
Responsible for parent information for student activity participation.
Responsible for encouraging student participation in athletic programs.
Calls coaches meetings at the beginning of school year and additional meetings as necessary.
Advises and assists coaches with needs/concerns within their program.
Advises and assists coaches with understanding conference, section, and Minnesota High School League rules, policies, and procedures.
Serves as mediator between coaches - parents - athletes.
Maintains record of student participation in school activities.
Represents District 840 at athletic/activity meetings at conference, sub - section, section, state and national level.
Maintains activities handbook and reviews this handbook with coaches and directors on an annual basis.
Responsible for collecting activity fees and deposits money on a regular basis to the financial institution as assigned by the District.
Coordinates ticket sales at all revenue generating events.
Monitors Title IX compliance.
Provides coaching assignment lists and pay for services to the District Office.
Arranges for medical coverage for home football, wrestling and gymnastics events.
Teaching, this position may at times teach a course or two for the school district (depending on licensure).
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (minimum), degree in education or activities /sport administration preferred
Experience as a coach, advisor, or educator
Must hold or be able to obtain a MSHSL Head Coaches certificate
Supervisory, budgetary, and management experience preferred
210 days per year.
Salary is $65,000 and negotiable based on experience FRINGE BENEFITS Package
